A Study on the Influence of the Family structure?Associational solidarity of parent-child for depression of parents and the Mediating Effects of the parent-child relationship satisfaction

Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between Family structure¡¤Associational solidarity of parent-child and depression of parents. A mediating model structured by parent-child relationship satisfaction was used to verify the relation between the two variables. The data was obtained through ¡¸Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging¡¹ in 2010. The study analyzed 5,194 people over 60 years old. As research methods, frequency, descriptive, correlation statistical analysis using SPSS version 18.0 and structured equation analysis using AMOS 18.0 program were conducted. Additionally, a Sobel test was used to verify the significant mediating effect. The findings are follows: First, parent-child relationship satisfaction functioned as a partial mediator on the relationship between Associational solidarity of parent-child and depression of parents. Second, there turns out to be no statistical significant effect between Family structure solidarity of parent-child and depression of parents. This study provides theoretical and practical implications for increasing Associational solidarity of parent-child based on the conclusion Associational solidarity of parent-child has positive effects on increasing parent-child relationship satisfaction and reducing depression of parents.
